Giving Back to the Community

Our purpose is to expand opportunities to feed our community.

During the preceding growing seasons, we donated over 400 watermelons and 50 pounds of leafy green vegetables to the Charles City County food pantry.

Going forward, we will grow our farm by working with our community, the Virginia Cooperative Extension, the National Resource Conservation Services, the USDA, and donors.

Who We Are

Established in 2021 by Good Green, LLC & WittyHer, LLC. At Good Green Acres we are an organic family farm. Formally known as Ruthville estates was apart of the first free black community in Charles City County, Virginia.

The community was the central point of the county's free African American population for many years, even before the Civil War (1861–1865). Following Emancipation, the crossroads community included the Mercantile Cooperative Company and Ruthville Training School. The United Sorghum Growers Club also met here.
